I use Tweetadder to build the numbers of followers because it lets me add followers that are more likely to be interested in what I tweet about. It doesn’t filter out the tweet bot accounts but it is easy to delete them after. The main thing is getting getting followers that are interested in Mac20Q or Video2oQ or one of my other blogs.

The way it works best is to tell it to search for people that are follower by someone that is in the field that you are working. This is better than telling it to find people that are following that person. So if you choose for example another Mac Podcaster and you can add to you list the people that he follows. There is a high chance that most of the people in that list are interested in Macs. That Mac podcaster will have no control who follows him so there will be more chaff in the wheat, as it were.

I don’t use any autotweeting that the application can do, because that only annoys people. I prefer to use this software to find tweeps that could have an interest in what I have to say about Macs or whatever the blog & podcast is about.

I bought the $74 version that allows me to work with up to 5 Twitter accounts and I like there is no monthly fee. The software is easy to use and set up. When I open it up it is set to unfollow people that I have followed for at least 2 days and they have not followed back. I have to get rid of some so that I can add more followers due to the rules of Twitter. It would be possible to do this manually but would be very time consuming and tedious.

It is still necessary to look at the DM’s that come in and reply personally to @ replies so that you have a personalised interaction with your followers, which is important. I recommend that you don’t get lazy and just let Tweetadder work away without your intervention which it can do.

Here are the stats from Twittercounter which show how my numbers have grown since using Tweetadder. I am very pleased with the results and certainly recommend this software.

With Video20Q I have added 713 followers in 13 days and 428 followers to Mac20Q in the same period. With Wizardgold I started working on it later withTweetadder and only the last few days has it started to grow. I needed to clear out some of the people I was following but were not following back, to be able to add more to the follower side.
